PELBAR: THE REFUGE FOR WOMEN

Created millennia ago, this pocket dimension was made by the goddess Isis to provide sanctuary for women who were abused, especially married women. nearly 2,000 years ago a Magess (Craydor of Pelbar City) petitioned her goddess that this safe refuge for women be made. Craydor herself had been beaten numerous times by her then-husband (a knight of famous renown) and after a particularly brutal midnight beating (he was drunk) the goddess Isis answered Craydor's prayers. The entrance into this extraordinary realm of peace and quite is through one of the fabulous stones ensconced in the sword of the Emperor of the Empire of Sin. A semi-intelligent jewel, this deep green stone is able to sense the thoughts and prayers of women up to a 5 miles away and transport them instantly to safety in Pelbar if the gem deems the person worthy. Since the Emperor travels from time to time, many women have found sanctuary in the Land of Pelbar. Craydor herself became an immortal when she was brought into Pelbar and she uses her magic to transport the children of women who are brought through the gem to be with their mothers, if they so wish. Craydor appears to these children in a dream (after being petitioned by a mother) and asks if the child would like to be with their father or mother. More often than not, the child or children choose their mother and are transported magically to Pelbar.

The dimension that Isis created is somewhat small in size, only 1000 kilometers across but it has more than enough room for the current inhabitants (87,000 people), all of whom are housed in Pelbar City, an ancient and beautiful stone and marble city that sits underneath a broad plain of very productive farmlands. It is said up to 300,000 people could be housed in the city, but only about 30% of it is currently inhabited (mostly by humans - 93%). Sunlight in Pelbar lasts for 12 hours, and then there is 12 hours of darkness. Magic does work here, as do psionics, but advanced technology of any kind does not. The dimensional barrier that Pelbar is made of is strong, with only one way in and out of the realm: through the gem in Emperors' sword hilt.

Isis worship is the predominate religion but other faiths are allowed, except evil ones (practitioners of such are expelled from Pelbar).

Time moves at the same rate in Pelbar as the outside world and its estimated that nearly 2 million people have lived (and died) in Pelbar to date, a positive testimony for the efforts of Craydor.

The Great Magess Craydor lives in the sky, a grand castle made of rose-colored marble, and she is surrounded by many friends, servants, and armed guards (all of whom are women). Craydor rarely leaves Pelbar, and when she does its only to the Palladium World (to right wrongs she sees in her ancient Seerstone).
