GLOSSARY

Bennaris (planet): located in Sector 10 space, Bennaris is the homeworld of the bug-like Bennarite race and the only known location of boromite and orellium ore. A pre-spaceflight civilization, the Bennarites are now major trading partners with the Fleet, selling them their vital ore. Bennaris is a extremely large volcanic world that is almost completely hostile to humanoid life but the armored Bennarites thrive there, underground.

Bennarites (race): a race of bug-like aliens that stand barely 5 feet tall, the Bennarites are a gregarious race, getting along well with other alien races they meet. Since becoming trade partners with humanity, they have MORE HERE SOON

Fleet Marines: the premier armed forces of the Sector 10 Fleet, these troopers are trained to fight on the ground and in space. Some use specialized (and very expensive) power armor while others focus on raids and orbital insertions. The troops that succeed in getting through boot camp on the grueling training world of ______ go onto become embassy guards, act as ships' police, drop commandos, and planetary assault forces. They also secure enemy vessels that surrender, lead rescues from space wrecks, and ensure the security of strategic weapons (WMD) on board warships. Fleet Marines are prized for their skills, abilities, and tactical mobility.

Grizzellans (race): a massively built bear-like race from Sector 10, Grizzellans are much larger than most other sentients, weighing in at over 800 kg and having an aggressive personality. Grizzellans can sometimes be volatile towards alien races. Also, Grizzellans can hibernate for long periods of time when necessary. The Grizzellans have an odd homeworld covered completely by land (no seas or oceans) and large deep forests: the population lives on top of the giant trees. They make excellent Fleet Marines and Commandos.

Hologhost: the Fleet Navy prefers face-to-face meetings of its top command staffs, but sometimes during wartime this can be unfeasible. It can be dangerous to have all your command staff at one location in a combat area, but meetings and coordinating attacks must still be planed and disseminated. Computer-generated “hologhosts” of various ships' captains and command staff can be projected onto a flagship for these electronic meetings instead, especially if a warship is too far distant to physically attend a tactical meeting or planning session.

Iduron: an important metal alloy used in power cores in the Sector 10 Fleet, it is a fairly cheap mineral that is easily found on many worlds. This alloy prevents reactor cores from going "critical" and it is used heavily within combat warships.

Invid (race): a highly aggressive alien race that hordes the powerful "Flower of Life". A bitter enemy of all alien races, especially the Robotech Masters. Their homeworld is located in a distant galaxy. Several new types of combat mechs have been created, including three heavy types: here, here, and here. The Invid have also built specialized warships designed to deal with anyone who would dare horde their precious Flower of Life.

Invid Flower of Life: to understand protoculture you must understand The Invid Flower of Life. The so-called "Flower of Life" is a mysterious plant that was once indigenous exclusively to the Invid's homeworld: Optera, a swampy, wet world with a thick atmosphere that orbits a G2V star. The Flower of Life possesses several properties truly unique to any plant in the universe. One of those properties is the generation of incredible amounts of bio-energy. A properly germinated seed placed under constant pressure generates more energy than a nuclear power plant: clean, natural, non-polluting energy. This process inhibits the plant's growth, which in turn causes it to generate even more energy. Locked in stasis, the seed can power a modern city of millions, for generations. MORE HERE SOON

Krulak Family: a extended military family that has long-term political and military connections to Sector 10 operations. The current head of the family (Jeremy Krulak) and the rest of his immediate relatives live on the high-population planet Terb.

Lysertling (race): an intelligent humanoid race, these aliens are cat like in appearance. They get along well with other races and are scientifically curious. They are proud members of the Fleet.

MAT: This form of highly advanced nanotechnology is partially organic and can be "weaved" into a human body. Medinano-derived artificial tissue (or MAT) is often used when soldiers are injured and loose arms or legs; the MAT rebuilds them and infuses itself into the bone structure, muscles, and blood system. These replaced legs look, act, and feel like normal organic legs and they can also be controlled by implants within the users body. Also, for short periods of time they can boost normal strength and endurance, letting a person run farther and jump higher. MAT can also shut down pain or exhaustion in the limbs it is intertwined with, and also automatically shuts off excessive bleeding in the equipped appendages. MAT is primarily a military nanotech, although mercenaries, adventurers, and others have been known to equip themselves with it before journeying out amongst the stars.

Mercury-class Freighter: MORE HERE SOON

Mership: Slang for a “merchant ship”, they are almost always civilian-owned. Hundreds of thousands of these vessels ply the starlanes of the Three Galaxies. Many are family owned, while others belong to interstellar freight companies of all sizes.

Metite: a critical metal alloy used in warship construction, this mineral makes nearly impervious hull armor. Located on only a few worlds in the Sector 10.

Mulligan's Travelling Pet Menagerie: owned by an enterprising fellow (Michael-Morgan Mulligan), this travelling pet show roams only within Sector 10. "Professor" Mulligan sells genetically modified pets that are displayed during his pet show, which is wildly popular on low-tech worlds: ie planets with few entertainments. His travels also enable Mulligan to illegally trade various drugs and cures for diseases.

Navigators, the (race): a brilliant race of exceptional shipbuilders, the Navigators are a gas giant race that were one of the first races to explore our galaxy, unfortunately sowing the seeds of their own destruction by allowing the Trierions to capture some of their space going technologies. Since that time, the Navigators have sold technology to nearly every race in an attempt to recuse themselves from the desolation they unleashed. Currently a very supportive member of the Fleet, the Navigators continue their pure research in the area of ship production and development, developing super-advanced warships and other vessels.

Prodium: MORE HERE SOON

Protoculture: several hundred years ago the Flower of Life was discovered on the Invid Homeworld. Since that time..... Combined with technology, the Flower of Life creates "protoculture", an enormously powerful energy source. Since then the Fleet has fielded hundreds of "Veritech fighters" MORE HERE SOON

Samozium: a vital mineral that is used for fusion reactor fuel; it extends the energy process threefold, making it heavily sought after. This alloy is only found on a single world in Sector 10, the planet Terb.

September Family: rulers of the planet Pentaurus V and its colonies, this wealthy family has strong connections with the black market across a dozen sectors. A thuggish group of people that no one wants too double-cross, they are significantly involved in Sector 10 as well. The most wanted man in the galaxy (by a dozen different policing organizations) is the patriarch of the family, Skua September.

Snapper Missiles: one of the more effective missiles used by the Fleet, these types of weapons are especially effective against the Invid. Snappers are sprint-mode missiles that cannot be stopped by starship point defenses.

Star Leviathon (species): these immense creatures are born in space and are used by several races for interstellar travel. Hundreds can be seen plying the space lanes of the Milky Way Galaxy. They are the only known "ship" capable of burst-jumping (moving into light speed almost instantly). Star Leviathons' are very valuable, but no one knows their their spawning grounds are located: it is most likely in the Orion Arm since the majority of Star Leviathons are found there.

Tamfolly (species): a race of microscopic intelligent viruses which inhabit humanoid hosts, the friendly Tamfolly live several thousand years and pass on their growing knowledge to their host bodies. Their homeworld is located somewhere within Sector 10, and they are responsible for some of the galaxies' most advanced technology break throughs due to their long-term racial memory.

Techno-Recency: a term for how technically updated a warship is. In the Sector 10 Navy, all vessels are classified with this techno-standard (also known as a TR Rating):

Class 1 - brand spanking new
Class 2 - moderately useful
Class 3 - grossly outdated

TITs: known officially as "tactical insertion torpedoes" and unofficially as "TITs", these weapons are fired by spacecraft and are used for boarding enemy ships.

Torodon (race): a dinosaur-like race that is very similar to a Earth-based triceratops. They evolved naturally and have become one of the Fleets' best ground troops in fighting the Invid due to being heavily armored.

Vanguard Dynasty: this wealthy family have been the movers and shakers on Tandu III for a generation. Their combined wealth is in the billions of credits and they dominate much of the sectors' shipping. Their money, combined with their powerful influences in interstellar trade, make them a virtually untouchable dynasty.

Wickerman Family: a wealthy and influential royal family from the planet Darkover. They have widespread ties with many worlds, and some say quite a few nefarious groups as well. They also have influential ties within the sector 10 underworld groups.

Xenosilicates: highly desired on Earth and only found on the waterworld Poseidon, these minerals lay on the ocean floor of the ocean. They have been established by Atlas Materials as unique geological form that has a wide range of extremely unusual properties, including the ability to arrest aging in humans as well as manipulate DNA chemistry with unprecedented accuracy and efficiency. Also known as "Long John", these silicates have been turned into life-extending medicines, mainly for the uber wealthy.

Zootsuits: slang for the combat suits made specifically for the Fleet Marines, they are lightweight power armor that is extremely effective on the battlefield. However, they cost an enormous amount of money (nearly the same cost as a destroyer warship) so only a few thousand have been built.
